Our cat Frankie

We recently lost our cat Frankie.  She was a great cat!  I really should have been nicer to her.  She was a stray.  When we moved in she started hanging out around the house and sleeping on the porch or under the rosebush.  The kids really bonded with her and for the most part she was good with them.  She knew her limits and when the kids annoyed her she just walked away and under the fence where she usually sat and watched them play.  I never had to worry about her. She was a lone wolf and came and went as she pleased.  She never expected things but she always showed so much gratitude for the things I did do for her.  She was a great little mouse catcher. She was also a big fan of bunnies and squirrels although I really don't miss finding them on my front yard. Another thing I'll always miss is how she always greeted me when I came home.  She'd usually be on the lawn in front of my inlaws home. As soon as she spotted us she would run to the back and always be at our front porch when we got out of the car.  The last thing, I always knew she would be there when I got home and at night I knew she would always be there. Just something about her consistency was calming to me and I will always miss her for that.  She really was the ideal cat.  We haven't told the kids yet. We're hoping they just forget which is sort of sad.  I don't want them to feel sad but at the same time I don't want them to completely forget her. That's really the biggest part of why I'm writing this so in a few years they can look at her pictures and remember how great she was.  I know she's being taken care of now though so it's not all sad. She probably somebodies indoor cat now being fed fancy cat food and getting pet all the time up in heaven.

Higher Definition Media

I have so much on my mind right now.  Most of it's related to the business but what I've REALLY been thinking about are "links".  I've titled myself as Higher Definition Media's new SEO (Search Engine Optimizer).  Basically my goal is to advertise our website and get the word out about our business.  The more exposure the business gets the more people watch Andy's videos!  And anyone that knows Andy knows that he has some major talent.  I know that, now I want the world to know it.  I've been pretty successful so far but the other day I had an idea.  I know a few of the people that check in on this blog are business owners themselves and have their own product or services that they offer so I was wondering if anyone wanted to do a link exchange with me on their blog.  I'll put a link to your website if you put a link to mine- kind of a thing.  You can either post it on the side bar or actually mention us in a post with a link or BOTH!  I will definitely reciprocate!  I'll even add you to my Facebook links.  AND if you don't have a business you can still plug us too.  That would be really sweet.  I apologize for advertising on our personal blog.  I promise this is a one time deal but seriously let me know what you think.  You can comment or shoot me an email at amber@higherdefinitionmedia.com.

Day Of Play

The other day when I had a day off I shot some video of the kids... Well, I finally got around to doing something with that footage. I came up with this quick little video, check it out and let me know what you think.

That's my Boy!

Preston's birthday was the 21st of August and he turned 2!  I can't believe how fast time goes by.  He's getting to be such a big boy.  For his birthday we celebrated by taking him to the California Animal Living Museum (CALM).  The Biglers were able to join us which made it all the more fun.

They have a brown bear and a black bear (which as you might remember from a previous post I am very familiar with).

And the best part of all....  

The MONKEY!

What?!? You didn't know CALM had monkeys?  The kids somehow got it in their head that there were going to be monkeys there and of course there aren't so Andy decided to fill in.  He's such a great dad.

Afterwards we got ice cream and Liz and Greg treated us to pizza.

Preston got some really nice toys and was so happy to play with them all!  Here he is showing off his new sheep.  I can't believe how much he looks like his daddy.

  Some interesting things to remember about Preston are that he always sleep with his cup and at least 3 stuffed animals, usually his dinosaur, sheep and bear.  Anytime you say "I love you" to him be prepared because he will always reply with with an "I love you MORE".  At night when I put him down for bed he won't let me leave without a kiss and a hug, sometimes several because he'll say "KISS" and I'll give him a kiss and then "HUG" and I'll give him a hug and then it continues "KISS", "HUG", "KISS", "HUG" as long as he can get away with it.  He loves to pretend to be a monster.  I can't even say the word without him growling real loud at me until I react.   He loves cars, bears and dinosaurs.  He finally just got a big boy bed.  He loves his sister even though they fight all the time.  He gets a kick out of trying out everyones shoes and usually misplaces them.  This summer is his first summer wearing flip flops.  He's actually not bad at keeping them on either.  He's a great little swimmer.  He just learned how ride a bike.  He's not afraid of animals at all except lizards STILL.  He asks for peanut butter and jelly every single meal.  His new favorite treat is "ogurt" (yogurt).  His favorite movies are Cars, Brother Bear and Super Doggy (Bolt).  He's recently started to throw tantrums by throwing himself on the kitchen floor.  He loves all his Grandmas and Grandpas very much.  And he is a seriously sweet kid with the worlds best smile.  I love him so very much.    

More highlights from our Tehachapi trip

As most of you know while Andy was busy shooting his movie the kids and I spent our time up in my home town of Tehachapi.  The kids and I really missed Andy but it was so nice to spend so much time with the family.  I've always loved going up there.  Everything is so much more laid back and relaxed.  My parents were amazing to let us crash at their house for so long and eat all their food.  It was a super nice break for me.  ::thanks mom and dad::  Now on to the pictures.  Here are the highlights from our time up there.

My parents and the kids played with chalk.  Evelyn showed off her artistic side and got REALLY dirty in the process.

 A couple days into our trip Kory busted his wrist long boarding.  He had to have surgery on it shortly after.  He had a titanium plate put in and like 11 staples.

We went to the Mountain Festival parade and then walked around the booths.  Mom split a funnel cake with us, mmm...

We spent some nice quality time visiting with Nannie & Papa (my Grandparents).  The kids could spend hours on their swing and exploring their backyard.

Uncle Scott came just in time for a stick fight with the kids.  I also got hear all about his new job at Dryers.  Very cool!  Literally, he works in a freezer.  His uniform looks like a full on snow suit.  It seems like a really good job for him plus he gets all the free ice cream he can eat. 

The one last thing we did was enjoy some delicious Tehachapi apples straight from the tree.  The apples were so big and delicious.  It was fun watching the kids try to open their mouths wide enough to take a big bite.
