After we finished watching Battlestar we still needed something to tie us over until all the new shows started so we rented the first season of 30 Rock which has turned out to be one of my all time favorite shows ever. In my opinion it's definitely up there with The Office (which I also love). With lines like "Live every week like it's shark week and nothing’s impossible except for dinosaurs” it makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it. Everyone in the show is hilarious. It's definitely a must see if you haven't already seen it. And speaking of great shows, this week is going to be awesome with all our favorite shows coming back including Prisonbreak, Heroes, House, My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, The Office & Survivor. Well, I guess it's obvious what I’m doing this week. If anyone wants to come over and join me you're more than welcome (but don't forget to bring the snacks!). It's going to be a lot of fun!

TV Shows
A couple of weeks ago Andy & I were so bored that we decided we were going to start a new show from the beginning on DVD. As most of you already know we're pretty big TV watchers so it was pretty hard to find a show that we hadn't already seen AND that looked appealing to us. Andy had been trying to convince me to watch "Battlestar Galactica" with him and every time he did I just laughed. I mean come on, can you think of two words nerdier than "battlestar"and "galactica" (well ok maybe "star" and "trek") but you get my point. I couldn't believe that he was actually serious about watching the show especially after I found a review that boasted about how it was such a great show because of the "sexy female alien robots". There was no way. I finally decided to do an internet search for the top TV shows and I was surprised to find out that Battlestar Galactica was in the top 10 list of almost every website. On some of them it was even number one. I guess I underestimated how many nerds there are that watch TV. So, needless to say, despite the female alien robots comment I decided to finally give in and give it a try. And now, step aside Harry Potter fans, Andy and I have now stepped up our nerd factor and I'm a little embarrassed to say this but we really like "Battlestar Galactica". We're now big fans! We've watched all the ones on DVD and now we're just waiting for the next season to come out.

U.S. Open
Tennis is the BEST sport in the world! The U.S. Open was on the last few weeks so I was able to watch a little tennis. I got to watch 3 great matches. I watched the quarterfinal match between Venus Williams & Jelena Jankovic- Venus won after playing all 3 sets and a tiebreaker. The second game I watched was the semifinal match between Venus Williams & Justine Henin. That was such a great game & by far my favorite game to watch out of the 3. Both the players played a really awesome game and the action was so intense I just couldn't stop watching it. Henin beat out Venus 7-6, 6-4 taking her to the finals to play against Svetlana Kuznetsova. I've never really had a favorite player in tennis, I mean the Williams sisters are cool and all but they have always seemed a little too showy and self confident to me. After watching the match between Venus and Henin though I officially think Justine Henin is AWESOME. She is only one of two people to beat both the Williams sisters in the same tournament, she goes for EVERY ball no matter how impossible it may seem and actually gets to almost every one, she moves up to the net which I think is totally awesome, she plays great volleys, she has great strategy & accuracy when it comes to making a shot & she is only 5 ft. 5 in. which is pretty impressive that she can win considering the average tennis player is over 6 ft. It's no wonder that she is number one in the world- SHE'S LIKE SUPER WOMAN! In the finals she took an easy victory over Kuznetsova making it her second time taking the championship at the U.S. Open AND (I'm so jealous) also taking home a check for 1.2 MILLION dollars. Every time I watch tennis it makes me excited to play. It's been quite a while since I've played so I'm probably pretty bad now but if anyone wants to play let me know. It might be nice to get out and play especially since it's finally starting to cool down.

Mother of Two
I think I'm SLOWLY getting the hang of this whole "being a mom of two kids" thing. I had no idea how much different it would be having two kids instead of just one and I have to say that all you other moms reading this make it look so much easier than it actually is. To explain what I mean, last week I had an appointment and Andy had to work which meant that I was on my own getting Evelyn & Preston ready and in the car. Oh man, most everyone already knows that I can't be on time to anything if my life depended on it but this was BAD. I showed up 45 minutes late. I had to practically beg them to let me even keep my appointment I was so late. Luckily they squeezed me in but I had to wait forever and by the time I left both the kids were screaming that they were hungry and Evelyn nearly fell asleep minutes before we left which made it extremly hard to get them in the car. Oh, and the best part about it was that as I was standing there at the front counter setting up my next appointment I looked down and noticed that I had leaked milk all down my shirt AND I still had to make a trip to the bank to pay a bill. I was supposed to go grocery shopping after that but with two hungry sleepy children and a sopping wet t-shirt... that certainly didn't happen. Since then it's gotten a little better. The second time I left the house by myself with both kids was last Thursday. Preston had his very first visit to the doctor and I can't say that I was on time but at least I was within my usual 5-10 minutes late. Preston did pretty good. He didn't get any shots or anything which was nice (for both of us). It was just a regular checkup visit and everything checked out fine. My little man now weighs 8 pounds 9 ounces which means he gained a whopping 11 ounces in 9 days and is still an even 21 inches long. The doctor said that out of the 3 other newborns that he had seen that morning Preston was the tallest and had gained the most weight since birth. That's right, it's all in the milk, baby! And Evelyn, as always, refused to stay in the room with all the toys and insisted on wandering the halls, exploring all the different rooms and showing off all her tricks to the receptionist while I attempted to fill out paperwork. But, other than all that she was pretty good and she managed to stay out of too much trouble. It certainly wasn't the smoothest visit but after that first trip out of the house with both kids I NEVER thought i'd ever want to leave the house again. Since then I definetly feel like i'm finally learning to get a handle on things but i've still got a long ways to go.
